10 Perfect Gifts For The Fashion Lover By Local Designers

The countdown to Christmas Day is on, and with just over a week to go, you’ll have to think quick if you’ve left it a teeny bit late! Luckily, the fashion team at Indulge have done all the online window shopping for you. We’ve come up with a shortlist of ten designer gifts by Maltese labels to make things easy as a mince pie. Baileys’ are on you next time.

1. Saz Mifsud – Amarilla Notebook

There are notebooks and there are notebooks “for best”, and this gorgeous yellow printed one by Saz Mifsud definitely falls under the latter. It’s perfect for jotting down glittering new ideas on the go, or for journalling out your thoughts before bedtime. So whether you keep yours in your handbag or your bedside locker, this one’s bound to inspire.

2. L’ Allee – Velvet Bucket Hat

There’s nothing that pulls an outfit together quite like a hat. It can lift a lacklustre outfit when you’re stuck for time or ideas in the morning, and adds a touch of dressiness with no effort at all. This majestic purple beauty by Pippa Toledo at L’Allee is the juiciest we’ve seen, and we love her take on bucket-hat luxe.

3. Parascandalo – Grey Infinity Scarf

Scarves make fabulous Christmas gifts. Firstly, a new scarf each winter is an affordable way of spicing up last winter’s coat. Secondly, you can never have too many, and thirdly, scarves are warming and comforting, and they’ll always remind the wearer of you! This Parascandalo infinity knit is perfect for that special gentlemen in your life.

4. Charles & Ron – Eau De Parfum

Maltese heavyweight designer label Charles & Ron have ventured into fragrances this year, and if this signature scent is anything to go by, they’re on to a winning formula – quite literally. Inspired by and produced in Malta, with notes of blood orange, saffron and jasmine, it’s a celebration of smart, sexy and strong women. It’s liquid confidence in a bottle.

5. Pippa Toledo – Leather Bum Bag

This slender leather number comes in all sorts of yummy colours, but we’ve fallen for it in olive green. Perfect for travelling, it’s just right size to fit your phone, passport (remember those?) and some foreign currency in for a coffee when you touch down in whatever shopping city you’ve chosen. We can hardly wait.

6. Gaia & Nina – Mdina Velvet Skirt

Chances are, if you have stylish friends and family, there’s bound to be a few stylish kiddies on your gift-buying list. The local childrenswear label Gaia & Nina is known by their clients the world over for their luxury fairytale aesthetic. Ethically-made in their boutique atelier, this dress will win you instant Cool Auntie Points.

7. Luke Azzopardi – Occasion Bag

After the year we’ve had, we’re all in need of some trademark Luke Azzopardi romantic escapism. Crafted out of high quality archival fabrics and handmade in Malta, this beauty is bound to impress even the most difficult of primadonnas… Fill it with loose Quality Street and a Victorian rabbit’s foot for better luck next year.

8. Marpesia & Co. – Bronze Ring

Rings are special little things when you think about it. They’re given as tokens of love in romantic relationships, passed down through generations of family members, and bought by the wearer themselves, picked up from street markets on far flung getaways, or, in this case, niche, small-batch jewellery shops like Malta’s Marpesia & Co.

9. Buttuna – Emerald Face Mask

We’re all about supporting local here at Indulge, and lesser-known new kid on the block Buttuna has caught our eye time and time again as of late. They do face-masks and scrunchies really, really well, and we think this handmade jewel-toned beauty is just the ticket for a stylish bestie.

10. Gagliardi – Venezia Pocket Square

We can’t get enough of this collaboration from local tailoring leaders Gagliardi and print designer Saz Mifsud. Inspired by Venetian carnival masks, this fabulous silk pocket square certainly packs a punch, and makes a fashionable gift for a spouse or sibling.

Have them style it peeking out of a razor-sharp black blazer, or throw caution to the wind and get them a powder blue suit to go with it. Oh, and Gagliardi accessories, (including smart face-masks for the boardroom) are on offer at 3 for 2 this week. Idéal!
