Ethelbert Perini was born in 1971 and he lives and works in Malta. Prefers dry medium such as graphite and pastel but paints also in acrylics, with subjects mainly figurative but also still life and boats.
How did you get started? From a young age always found with a pencil or pen drawing on any paper available.
Whose artist’s work are you most inspired by? Figure drawings of the old masters, works of the early impressionists including Cezanne, and John Sargent
Describe your work in less than 10 words. Mostly spontaneous seeking to model with the least possible strokes.
What genre do you consider your work to be? Mainly figurative but paint any subjects that inspire me.

Where was your first exhibition held? At the Malta Society of Arts- NovoNoveArt in 2012
What are you working on at the moment? Portraits in pastel.
How long have you been painting? Since my childhood.
Are you a morning person or do you come alive at night? Late mornings and evenings.
How many coffees a day? Don’t embellish. Good old English tea, whatever the weather.
Sundays can be very productive for some and very unproductive for others. How do you spend yours? Either painting or at least leafing through art books and periodicals.
Wine and cheese. Yes or no? Yes
If you were given a million euros, what would you indulge yourself with? Visiting exotic countries. Possibly an art work by an old master.
Favourite place to holiday? Would love to experience a rain forest. Costa Rica perhaps?
