One thing that has sticks out during this Pandemic, is the rise in mental health suffering. What we have all been through, many being more affected, is totally unnatural to our lives.
There are many ways to help the mind but I am no psychologist so I won’t even try to give advice.
I did, however come across a book last year which my son got for Christmas called The boy the mole the fox and the horse by Charlie Mackesy.
I had seen a good bit about the book on social media, through various sites and friends sharing their favourite pieces that I thought it an ideal book to have in the house, especially for my son to have to look through over the years. Not to my surprise, the book proved very invaluable to me at a time when I really needed it too, because, it really is a beautiful story of simple truths which are relevant at every age.
A book about Love, friendship and kindness, we follow the boy and his friends. In the beginning, the author writes “this book is for everyone, wether you are eighty or eight” “you can dip in anywhere, anytime”
To me this sums it up and opening on any page will reveal a beautiful quote.
The book is beautifully illustrated by the author and in handwritten print.
Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book.
“What do you think success is? Asked the boy
“To love” said the mole
“Often the hardest person to forgive is yourself”
“Nothing beats kindness”, Said the horse. “It sits quietly beyond all things”
“Home isn’t always a place is it?”
‘Everyone is a bit scared” said the horse. “But we are less scared together.”
Especially In the time we are living, I think this is a great one to have in your children’s collection or as a coffee table book. It is so relevant and loved by everyone who has it. A thoughtful and timeless gift.

I would also highly recommend giving the Author, Charlie Mackesy, a follow on instagram. You won’t be disappointed.
