This weekend, why not watch a bit of Porn, the musical? You won’t be embarrassed if anyone sees you there, or get a stiffy, but you will giggle like a schoolchild and come away with some new one liners.
If you did close your eyes, you would know this was a Malcolm Galea play, the humour, the timing are just him to a T. One of my favourites, Louis Cassar, plays the part of Martin Scoresleazy and a few other characters along the way, with the absolutely beautiful Sarah Naudi taking the audience’s breath away with her singing splitz and believable portrayal of Sanddy.
The other actors all have you in fits, especially Toni Attard who you want to adopt by the end of the show, and Max Dingli tugs a bit at your heart strings and makes your hair stand on end with his voice.
Jade, played by Eliza Borg Rizzo, I recognised so I especially didn’t like her character, though you aren’t supposed to. And Dr Johnny, played by David Ellul, will have you looking at anyone who talks about their PHD in quite a different way.
The music is fabulously cheesy and the acoustics pretty good at the open air theatre; of course fireworks made an appearance but the actors didn’t flinch. There are a couple of songs you’ll find yourself wanting to sing along to, and the finale, well, a big LIKE.
