A Mid Summer Night’s Dream Line Up – (Not Shakespeare) Cabaret

If a break in the monotony of summer is what you need, head over to Spazju Kreattiv Theatre St James Cavalier in Valletta for a weekend of titillating entertainment at a cabaret show with burlesque performers, singers, magicians, and a male aerial act, entitled MalTEASE.

Tickets are restricted but there are two shows on both Saturday and Sunday, couples, and performance art lovers are snapping up tickets fast, but there’s still a few left for the earlier shows.

Burlesque is more about costume, glitter and talent than it is striptease. It’s not sleazy and indeed groups of women are usually one of the main parts of the audience at burlesque shows.

Undine La Verve is Malta’s own performer and has entertained those in the know since 2015 with monthly shows starting again soon at the Silverhorse in Strait Street, and appearances ae various events. She also started BAM – the Burlesque Academy – Malta and one of the students, Bella Stardust, will be debuting her solo act at the MalTEASE show. Other students will be taking part as a troupe.

“The school reopens with beginners classes in September and holds workshops too, hen parties and birthdays are popular and we also run a series of talks on the history of the art,” said Undine. “what the art gives you is body confidence, and its so wonderful to see peoples confidence grow as the attend classes.

The MalTEASE show may not be what you are conditioned to expect, but come along and be entertained.”
