If you’re planning to party on New Years Eve, why not try some glitter on your eyes? What better time!
Lots of my clients tell me that they are some what timid when it comes to using glitter on their eyes as they feel it’s either too messy to apply or too in your face.
I can assure you, that wether you want a subtle glint or a full on dazzle, its easy peasy with my simple steps!
1. Choose your formula
Glitter in the makeup world comes in 2-3 main forms – loose, pressed and sometimes a gel.
The loose kind is the most difficult to use but will give the most effective and striking look – the finer the formula, the better.
The pressed glitter, traditionally comes in an eyeshadow format which is easier to apply and great for a quick swish of both colour and glitter effortlessly.
The gel kind can be quite sticky but very effective, especially if you want to achieve a trendy glossy look.
2. Do your makeup
Glitter is best left until last, otherwise you risk blending it in to your makeup and having the placement all wrong.
3. Use a mixing medium
Sound fancy? You don’t have to go all out and buy a professional mixing medium, my top tip is using a water spray like MAC fix plus. The glycerin in the product acts like an adherent, while the water will dry and set the product.
4. Apply
Now add the glitter where you like, the best place in my opinion is dabbed on the centre of the eye lid.
Use a small flat brush for precise application and remember, building is key! In other words, don’t soak your brush in spray and use a huge amount of glitter all at once… it will be a mess, so little by little. That rule applies to most steps in makeup.
5. Mascara
Add lashings of mascara and some flirty lashes if you feel extra daring and be ready to sparkle all night!

Brands who have beautiful glitter products are: MAC, NYX, SLEEK, INGLOT
