Anastasia Marie is passionate and ambitious certified aromatherapist, and mother of four, originally born and raised in Australia.

When and how did you get started on your artisanal skills?
I was always very drawn to the artistic field or fields. Every job or career I have done in my life has always had at least one artistic element to it. Back in 2011, I started making candles, then I carried out some research and took more of a professional and scientific approach. After a few trials and errors, I branched out into making my product – My Melts.

Describe your work in 10 words or less.
My Melts are handmade, non-toxic, ambiance-enhancing, fragrant soy-wax pieces that melt in oil burners.

Do you have a favourite from among your own creations? If so, why?
My favourite has to be a melt taken out of the aromatherapy selection called ‘Lemon, Lavender and Patchouli’ because it’s one of my unique blends, which I find particularly soothing and relaxing.

What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment, I’ve created an off-shoot from My Melts called My Remedy which aims to help various people’s ailments by creating specific blends which act to ease their everyday pains or discomforts. It feels very satisfactory to see instant results and to know I’ve eased someone’s pain or personal issues through My Remedy’s tailor-made blends.

If you weren’t an artisan, what would you be?
Well, I’d hope to think a millionaire! Ha-ha, just kidding. I think I’d still be helping people one way or another because I’m definitely a people-person, always have been and always will be.

What is the epitome of happiness for you?
To know that various people have attached their special life event (e.g. wedding, engagement, baby shower, etc.) to the specific fragrance they had lit on the day and have given away to their guests as ‘thank you’ favours. It’s an awesome feeling to get feedback from clients saying things such as ”The house smells amazing!” or ”We had such a great night’s sleep last night” or ”With the simple fact of lighting a burner every morning… and having a nice fragrance around me helped me get out of my depression!”. These kind of comments make me feel so genuinely happy. Words truly cannot describe the feeling I get when I know I’ve created something so physically small, but with such a huge psychological impact on people.
