Architectural Colours By Numbers

Paint & Paper Library’s ‘Architectural Colours’ palette is a sophisticated yet user-friendly, colour-by-number system, designed to provide simple alternatives to pure white.

In a choice of 95 graduated shades, the palette includes easy-on-the-eye light tones and restful neutrals. Using different strengths of the same pigments produces subtle nuances of shade: used in conjunction, these gradations of tone empower both experienced professionals and aspiring homeowners to achieve a subtle and harmonious interior scheme.

Arranged chromatically in 19 groups of five gradual shades, numbered I, II, III, IV and V and ranging from light to dark and warm to cool, each tone can be used, either individually or in effortless combination, on ceilings, cornices, walls and woodwork. Additionally five tones of refreshing whites complete the collection.

‘Architectural Colours’ can be used in isolation, together with other Architectural hues, alongside wallpapers or to provide a sophisticated contrast to the stronger shades found in Paint & Paper Library’s ‘Original Colours’ selection.

Neutral does not mean bland as the latest photography demonstrates. It highlights the versatility of these useable hues and suggests how the ‘Architectural Colours’ can be painted in creative ways – including horizontal bands of tonal colour, channelling current trends for painting woodwork and creating focal points through colour blocking.

As well as providing seamless and natural-looking transitions from room to room, the Architectural palette is highly flexible, and works equally well in light or dark spaces. Using the colour families in combination can add a subtle depth to the room: it can trick the eye into thinking all the colours are the same shade, which in turn can expand the sense of space and make low ceilings appear higher than they actually are. Alternatively, layering small highlights of bolder tones from the ‘Original Colours’ on top of the neutrals can be used to add detail and interest to a room.

The streamlined, easy-to-use palette of complementary colours, and the superb quality of the finishes (including the mattest emulsion paint), makes it the paint of choice for discerning homeowners, specifiers, interior designers and architects.

Encompassing 180 shades, Paint & Paper Library’s colour card is made up of two palettes: ‘Architectural Colours’ and ‘Original Colours’.

Available in five superlative finishes, including Pure Flat Emulsion, the ultimate soft chalky finish, Paint & Paper Library also offers low VOC oil-based Eggshell and Gloss paints; the choice of the professional given their excellent flow, smooth finish and legendary adhesion to interior and exterior woodwork.

Paint & Paper Library makes every effort to minimise its negative impact on both the environment and health. All the company’s paints are traditionally manufactured in the UK to exceptionally high standards, using the highest quality eco-friendly ingredients and meeting all global regulations on VOC solvents; formulated to make an impact on your walls, not on the environment!
