Birgu – in a city which has gone through changes and yet maintains a majestic and historical presence, centuries of lives lived and stories told still linger. Photographer Jacob Sammut and poet Miriam Calleja aim to capture this moment in time. The images and feelings in Birgu as they are now will be portrayed in the beautifully renovated Auberge de France as sets of photographs and poems combined together by the artists. These visual sets will take you on a journey through Birgu as experienced by the locals and other onlookers.
The exhibition will be launched on Monday 20th July in the foyer at Auberge de France in Hilda Tabone Street Birgu and may be viewed thereafter during the Birgu local council’s opening hours until the 3rd of August 2015.
The local council’s opening hours are from Monday to Friday from 8am – 12:30pm, 1:15pm-4:45pm and Saturday from 8am-12pm. (Telephone numbers 21662166 / 21807008 / 79662166)
Vittoriosa
Sometimes despite the chaos
There is a silence in you
That begs attention
A ghost ship, sailing in place
Majestic, distinguished
Holder of history
