Beauty Hacks – around the home
A popular subject lately, at home beauty hacks are always being posted on the socials… some are very questionable and pointless but nonetheless, there are many that work and a lot of tips past through generations.
I’ve put together a few popular ones!
Hair conditioner for shaving
I remember reading about this one in just 17 magazine or the like in my teens and it does actually work! By softening the hair and giving a smooth glide, it can be a good alternative to foam,
Just be careful of the bath or shower getting slippery
Cold teabags
Keeping a few used teabags from the day and applying them on the eye area like a mask can help reduce puffiness, give a brighter look to the eyes and soothe irritation. Allergy season is upon us so this is great for itchy eyes!
Just pop them on for a few minutes with your eyes closed.
Olive oil
Most of us will always have a bottle of olive oil on the go for cooking but it’s also a great one to have on hand for skin issues such as dryness or to mix with brown sugar to make a luxurious and effective body scrub.
When I’m cooking and get oil or the residue in my hand, I never wipe it off, I’ve got in to the habit of rubbing it in.
Vaseline to remove stubborn eye makeup
We all know Vaseline is a staple and has a multitude of uses, but one that’s really effective is removing eye makeup. With your ring finger, massage a tiny amount over the eye area as you would with a cleansing balm and you will start to see the makeup break down. Have some warm damp cotton pads or a face cloth at the ready and watch it literally just slide off! This is also a very relaxing way to take off your makeup and your eyes will feel lovely and refreshed… be careful not to get in to eyes.
Dry shampoo
Out of your favourite! Sprinkle a little corn flour on to your hair to for a quick fix!
Honey
The beauty and medicinal benefits of honey are centuries old and no secret. Great to have around for dry lips, diy face masks and skin irritations
I love a good beauty hack and things you have around the house can always come in handy when you are out of your usual products. Just remember to use with caution xx
