The Malta Book Festival, the largest local cultural event dedicated to books and reading in Malta, will be held for the second year running at MFCC Ta’ Qali, opening its doors to the public through a five-day span, as from Wednesday, 23 till Sunday, 27 November.
This year’s Festival has attracted a long list of participants from all sectors working directly in the book industry and beyond, thus being able to celebrate the book culture in all its forms. The National Book Council, as the organizers, strived to make the Festival as inclusive as possible and collaborated with different entities and various stakeholders to meet this end. It also features more than 100 events, including dramatisations of literary texts, discussions and conferences on literary themes, book launches, book presentations, poetry readings, meetings with authors, and seminars.
Weekday mornings are reserved for school children and students, and a special programme of events is prepared for them, including shows based on the winners of the 2022 Terramaxka Book Prize and created in collaboration with Żigużajg.
This year’s edition will feature the exhibition From Illustration to Book, a collaboration with Arts Council Malta which celebrates book publishing-related art. The bestselling author John Boyne of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and the Maltese-American comic book artist and journalist Joe Sacco are the special international guests of this year’s Festival.
