Every year, the Dance Studies Department of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta organises a programme of choreographies by local and foreign artists. This show serves both as an experience of professional life for the students, and a showcase of their work throughout their three years at university.
This year’s performances show six choreographies by guest artists Yoshua Cienfuegos (Spain) and Athanasia Kanellopoulou (Greece) and Malta-based choreographers Jo Butterworth, Kayleigh Gelfo, Dorian Mallia and Lucía Piquero.
The students work on the preparations of the show for three months and then present it both in Malta and abroad. This year the tour will take them to Spain, where they will perform in four different cities: León, Barcelona, Gijón and Mieres. In Malta, they will perform at the Old Valletta Campus’ Theatre – MITP, and at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, as well as schools and colleges in Malta and Gozo.
