I am Denise, a painter and art therapist originally from Malta and based in London. How did you get started?
I got busy with paint since my teenage years, since then it has never faded.
For around 8 years, along with painting, I worked as a photographer shooting urban, fashion and band photography. I also created my own jewellery and various handmade accessories and founded Malta’s first contemporary arts and crafts fair in 2010.

Whose artist’s work are you most inspired by?
It changes all the time but, currently, I’d say it’s Gillian Ayres.

Describe your work in less than 10 words.
Abstract, playful, expressive and at times, expressing subtle stories.

What genre do you consider your work to be?
Abstract and expressive.

What are you working on at the moment?
A series of personal paintings which were initiated after painting ‘Untitled 1’.

Over 10 years.

Are you a morning person or do you come alive at night?
I must say that I am an ex-night person who gradually became more of a morning person.

How many coffees a day? Don’t embellish.
I stick to not more than 3 a day. Coffee is number one in the morning!

Sundays can be very productive for some and very unproductive for others. How do you spend yours?
I tend to keep Sundays for quality time and outdoor stuff so it’s mostly spent with
friends.
