There is so much going on in Malta that you need more than 24 hours in a day. The theatre scene is rich with innovative plays and it is encouraging to see so many age groups supporting the scene.
Forget-me-not at the MITP is an example of a play that is executed with a mix of media and technique. Dance and film compliment the innovative scenery and metaphorical script which was crafted by the too young to be so talented, Simone Spiteri. Praise goes to the set designer, Pierre Portelli; it just goes to show that less is more.
Falling in love with the lead characters was easy, Yosef Farrugia and Elise Ellul were a match made in heaven. Graceful and believable – I only wished wardrobe had made her wear gym knickers over her tights….. Then the force that is Magdalena Van Kuilenburg changes from her office worker disguise and becomes the Memory Keeper; her haunting, energetic laugh, her presence dominating the play. Such a strong character and voice matched the dance ability and emotion portrayed by the couple, and whilst my eyes pricked with tears, we left the theatre smiling and in awe that we are surrounded by so much talent.
You have chance to enjoy this play on 21st, 22nd and 23rd February at MITP
