Medicinally and nutritionally, sprouts have a long history. It has been written that the Ancient Chinese physicians recognised and prescribed sprouts for curing many disorders over 5,000 years ago. Sprouts have continued to be a main staple in the diets of Americans of Oriental descent. Although accounts of sprouting appear in the Bible in the Book of Daniel, it took centuries for the West to fully realize its nutrition merits.
This Saturday, 28th June Simply Organic are holding a workshop on Simple Healthy Cooking with Sprouts.
In the lecture you will learn about the nutritional and medicinal benefits of the various seeds and how to grow them in the different sprouters. We will also explore how to grow the different seeds at home in a safe and efficient way and tasting a selection of sprouts.
The cooking part of the workshop will be led by Chef Ilaria De Luca, a professional chef qualified from Lucca (Toscana) with specialisation in cooking for healthy eating.
Ilaria obtained valuable experience working at Dune Hotel in Lucca and at Hugo in St. Julian’s. Chef Ilaria has gained experience in Nutrition and Healthy eating whilst working and under the tutorship of Dott.ssa Chiara Manzi, a nutrition specialist.
Chef Ilaria will prepare a number of plates for tasting using freshly germinated seeds.
Available for sale are a line of organic seeds and accessories useful for producing healthy and nutritious sprouts at home in a fast and economical way. spotters and accessories, including dehydrators, juicers, slicers and more.
Cost: €15.00 per person.
