The heat has truly come and with school out this week, are you wondering what to do with your little ones? Beach days are great but if you want to try something a little different, or fancy changing up the usual summer fun, here are some ideas to get you out and about or have fun in doors.
Have a water balloon fight
Who doesn’t love a good water balloon fight… bonus is it will cool everyone down!
Have a talent contest
Get everyone round for a bbq or some nibbles and encourage the kids to be the entertainment for the night. We used to love putting on a show for the relatives when we were kids.
Science experiments
When it’s too hot to go outside, look up some fun home (safe) science experiments you can do with kids using household things such as dish soap and food colouring.
Make ice cream
Making ice cream is fun for everyone and you can be adventurous with flavours, tasty and fun for the whole family.
Have a themed movie night
I love the idea of a drive through Greece style movie night, you could introduce your kids to some old or classic films, make home made popcorn and ice cream floats to really make it retro!
Eat outside,
Try a new food truck, there are so many amazing ones around the island. Of a cooler evening, why not treat everyone and have a take out and enjoy in the open air, bonus if there’s fireworks scheduled.
Visit a new village
I love that each Village in Malta has a unique history. Festas won’t be the usual scene again this year so why not visit a village you don’t really go to and grab a bite from a local cafe or restaurant.
Make a summer scrap book or time capsule.
Kids love crafting at school so why not encourage them to keep up their work by making a summer memory scrap book.
They could collect things from outings and print some pictures and add to it when they want, making diary entry’s of fun trips or new things learned. By the end of summer they’ll (and you) will have a precious keep sake.
Send a letter,
I LOVED having a pen pal as a kid and nowadays these things are phasing out with all our digital connection. I think it’s a lovely idea to have the kids write a letter to someone.
I hope some of these ideas inspire you to create or do something new and different this summer. Of course there will be many activities and days out advertised throughout the summer but it’s always nice to put your own spin on things and create great memories, Enjoy it!
