Fashion News For A Good Cause From Sliema Boutique I Am Indian Soul

As the Spring collections hit the rails this season, we’ll be heading to the shops for something to wear out out now that we’ve got a date – June the 7th! Malta’s shops are back open, and one Sliema boutique in particular’s caught our eye, for more than one reason.

Bisazza Street’s recent addition has already made a big impact for a small indie. I Am Indian Soul is exactly what it says on the tin- fashion sourced in India and inspired by traditional dress, simplified for wearability for anyone who likes a bit of spice and soul in their wardrobe. The light, quality fabrics come in the most incredible prints to put a kick into our sunny weather #ootds. Let’s just say we have our eye on a few pieces that we’ve seen already here at Indulge!

Owner Shama Patel lives and breathes her brand, which started off on the fashionable market stalls of London before she relocated to Malta with her partner, choosing our sunnier climes as the label’s new base. She embodies I Am Indian Soul.

Her passion for humankind shines through in her physical presence, and her inspiring posts on the boutique’s Instagram.

Like the rest of the world, Shama is devastated at the news of the coronavirus pandemic ravaging through India.

As British Indian with family there, the desperate state of the outbreak in India has been incredibly saddening for Shama.

“Having spoken with my family, everything is in short supply and in a lot of cases, no supply at all. This includes intensive care unit beds, medicine, oxygen and ventilators. Covid is ravaging the poorer communities.

The communities don’t have access to medicine, assistance, or even basic information to help them deal with the pandemic themselves. India is slowly dying and urgently needs our help.

Every penny, cent, rupee counts, so please give whatever little you can, even if you are not buying anything from us.”

For the month of May, 10% of all sales in-store at the I Am Indian Soul Sliema boutique and online will be going to India’s Covid relief on a weekly basis. The small business has also shared the link to GIVE INDIA for those who’d like to donate directly.

We love to see sustainable businesses grow, and this charitable cause is just another reason to opt for mindful slow-fashion labels with humanitarian interests and their supply team at the heart of everything they do.
