Last Friday I took advantage of having a free day and booked myself (slightly last minute) on a filigree workshop at Palazzo Falson.
Gaetano Saliba introduced us to his family business and then it was straight to work for the 7 ladies who had turned up for the course. We first sorted out or pre-cut kits and then with a flick of his tweezers, showed us how to start to make the outline to our ‘sleeping lady’ pendent.
This was relatively easy, and then we had chance to solder the piece before the tricky filling. This video shows you in a few minutes how filigree is made.
The workshop lasted just 3 hours with an unexpectedly abundant coffee break, but we all managed to finish and polish our items; I felt quite accomplished.
