The first Beyond the Moon Fundraising Gala Dinner & Charity Auction will be held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in Attard on 20 October.
Beyond the Moon – an international charity based in Belgium with very strong local links – has just announced its first Fundraising Gala Dinner & Charity Auction. Taking place on Saturday 20 October within the Corinthia Ballroom at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa (CPH) in Attard, the event will help raise much-needed funds to send families of seriously ill children on the holiday of a lifetime.
“When the worst happens, there is very little time and money to be spent on the things that make life enjoyable,” explains Marisa Xuereb, CPH’s administration officer, who was also recently appointed the charity’s local ambassador. “Thankfully, there are many organisations that help families deal with the financial burden of having a sick child, but the emotional toll is one that is difficult to get away from.”
This is where Beyond the Moon comes in, as it gives families the chance to spend quality time together away from hospitals and their day-to-day reality. “It is an opportunity to make beautiful memories together,” Mrs Xuereb continues.
Over the past 11 years, CPH has helped raise over €95,000 for the charity through various events and fundraisers, including its popular Perfect Christmas Fair and Perfect Mothers’ Day Fair, as well as internal events. This sum has sent 20 families on a cost-free vacation to destinations that allow children and their families to completely relax and enjoy their time together, including Disneyland© Resort Paris in France, Center Parcs in the UK and Landal GreenParks Family resorts across Europe.
Now, the first Fund Raising Gala Dinner & Charity Auction will allow the Hotel to continuein its mission to help raise more funds.
Tickets to this red-carpet event are priced at €75 per person, and include a welcome drink and canapés, a four-course gala dinner with free-flowing wine and water, as well as entertainment by an internationally-renowned cabaret artist (whose identity will remain a surprise until the night!). The evening will also include a charity auction of artworks, experiences and accommodation vouchers sponsored by Corinthia’s international sister hotels and other benefactors. The evening will then end with an after party, while a local celebrity DJ will see guests into the early hours of the morning.
“Our success to-date would not have been possible without the valuable contribution of our sponsors and the generous contributions of the public and our team,” Mrs Xuereb continues. “But our success has only been worthwhile because of the smiles that we see on these families’ faces. We look forward to this gala dinner as the next step on our fundraising journey, and to welcoming guests for a fantastic night out that contributes to a very good cause.”
