GO get 4G

GO LogoGO customers will soon be able to enjoy unparalleled mobile Internet speeds thanks to the launch of fourth generation (4G) mobile telecommunications services.

The investment in 4G will further enhance GO’s unique ability to offer a superior mobile Internet service due to a completely fibre connected mobile network which is easily scalable to cater for ever growing demand, delivering greater speeds and offers unrivalled reliability. According to an agreement with Nokia Networks as supplier of the 4G network, the launch will also include a major overhaul of GO’s national Radio Access Network (RAN).

Kelvin Camenzuli, GO’s Chief Technical Officer stated: ‘’The introduction of 4G is an exciting prospect for GO’s customers, giving those who live their lives on the move access to even faster mobile internet speeds. This substantial investment is in line with GO’s ongoing strategy to deliver the best communications and entertainment experience and to provide the benefits of the latest technology and connectivity to personal customers and business. It is also one of several significant investments which GO will be undertaking this year and which are all geared towards giving customers a better experience and greater choice. Furthermore, it also reaffirms GO’s confident outlook and determination to take Malta into the future by staying at the forefront of technology developments.’’

Massimo Mazzocchini, Country Director for Italy and Malta at Nokia Networks, stated: “Subscriber appetite for applications has reached an all-time high. This project is an important landmark in our long-term partnership with GO. Our services expertise will plan and implement the best radio technology for GO using the energy-efficient and compact Nokia Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station for next-generation mobile broadband networks.”
