GreenPak’s Clothes collection scheme to run again in May

imageFollowing the success of the previous two campaigns, GreenPak Coop Society in collaboration with The Inspire Foundation and 18 Local Councils, will once again embark on a clothes’ collection scheme to help raise funds for the disability programmes at Inspire.

Two collections were held, one in October 2013 and one last January, during which more than 50 tons of used clothes were collected. The clothes were then sorted by Inspire’s clients and, the ones in good condition were sold through Inspire’s charity shops and exported to different parts of the world, raising thousands of Euro for Inspire.

“Besides proving to be good fundraising activities, these initiatives are good for the environment and also provide long term jobs for people with various disabilities,” said Nathan Farrugia, Inspire’s CEO.

The next collection will be held on Saturday 17th May and Saturday 31st May, between 8am and 11am. Residents are encouraged to donate any used or unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags or any other accessories in good condition. Items will be collected from the following local councils: Attard, Balzan, Ghaxaq, Gudja, Gzira, Kirkop, Lija, Mqabba, Paola, Pembroke, Qormi, Qrendi, San Gwann, Sliema, Valletta, Xaghra (Gozo), Zabbar & Zurrieq.

“With GreenPak operations covering 64% of households in Malta and Gozo, we see it as our responsibility to participate and support such noble causes. Apart from financing the used-clothes collections from the various localities, members of the GreenPak team organize the logistics, provide expertise in handling materials for recycling and uses its social media networks to promote the event. GreenPak is proud and honoured to be part of this initiative,” says Ing. Mario Schembri, CEO of GreenPak Coop Society.
