Malta’s property market, never one to sit quietly in the corner, kept itself very much in conversation in June 2026. According to the National Statistics Office, final deeds of sale and promise of sale agreements increased by 11.7 per cent compared with June 2025. In other words, while some people were planning holidays, others were still signing on dotted lines and mentally placing sofas. The value of those deeds totalled €360.8 million, up 19.5 per cent on the same month last year.
Individual buyers, or households in official-speak, accounted for 997 of the final deeds of sale, representing 89.3 per cent of the total. The value of deeds involving these buyers stood at €261.5 million (up 72.5 per cent). Companies made up virtually all the remaining deeds, proving that bricks, mortar and the occasional aggressively priced view remain attractive to more than just couples arguing over kitchen tiles.
The localities recording the highest number of final deeds of sale were Birkirkara, St Paul’s Bay and Mosta.
Of the 1,240 properties transacted through final deeds of sale during June, apartments accounted for the largest share, with 400 properties. 292 garages – the sacred hybrid of storage unit, parking space, workshop and in many cases, a cause of stress while people park in front of them
Promise of sale agreements told a slightly different story. During June 2026, 1,026 residential property promise of sale agreements were registered, down 7.2 per cent compared with June 2025, however, their total value reached €447.9 million, an increase of 10.8 per cent year-on-year. So, while fewer promises were made, the ones that did make it onto paper came with rather heftier price tags.
In a nutshell, final sales were up, preliminary agreements were down, and values continued to climb .
As always, the NSO notes that these figures are based on registrations with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration and may be revised if the source data is updated. In property, as in life, apparently even the numbers like to keep their options open.
