All the bikini ranges and beach club press releases start filing in, and once again, I realise that Summer is just around the corner, and I will spend another season draped in chiffon, hoping to disguise my cellulite.
Overall, I’m not that unhappy with my body, especially knowing what I put into it. But a chat with a girlfriend made me take action and book some sessions with Audrey Callus who is a personal trainer and guides you through the nutritional maze we face. Whilst I promised i would give it my all for the exercise element, the regime is less likely. Looks delish, but I just cannot be trusted to drive past a Pastizzi place without stopping for an anchovy pie / ricotta / pizza slice, and being out most evenings where the food is not always my choice, means I’m a nutritionalist’s nightmare.
With mild intrepidation, I put on my trainers and headed off the old barracks, aptly named, for session number one. After filling in a health questionnaire and telling Audrey a little about my lifestyle, we got started with a warm up on a cross trainer. Now, we have one of these at home, it’s really good for hanging things from I find.
After I think 10 minutes on this, I got to sit down. On an exercise bike. And did a few more minutes on that. This was all before the circuit training, which was not too stressful, but oh boy, did my heart race! The AC was on high and poor slight Audrey was in a puffa jacket, while I was puffing and sweating away.
I was asked to keep a food diary, which after the next two meals I was too embarrassed to do, so I’m sure an extra set of sit ups will be on the agenda for my next session.
