The title of the exhibition explains it all. From the exploration of the self to the questioning of the self. From the abstract thought to the raw reality.
The exhibition is presenting different styles and media joined as one by the thought of self-reflection and existence, abstract paintings and sculptures. The abstracts convey an explosive use of colour in a creative mood, portraying the artist’s heartfelt relation to earth’s creation and nature, using earth and natural colours that strengthen the feeling of being one with nature and its roots. The shift from paint to clay marks a shift in mood, from the relation of the self with nature, to the reflection of the self within. The love for the human form comes out in the various sculptures. This is combined with the depth of thought and the various psychological challenges of human reality, portraying love, fear, resilience, pain, faith, despair and more.
The paintings are mostly acrylics on canvas and the reliefs and sculptures are mainly clay finished with acrylics and epoxy with some other materials, including wood, plastic and glass.
Mauro Pace Parascandalo – The Artist
Mauro Pace Parascandalo was born in 1968 in Birgu, Malta. As from his teenage years, Mauro experimented with various media, being self-taught, mostly focusing on the human body. While over the years he produced some pieces of art, it was only in 2018 when he had a life-changing experience, did he decide to take art more seriously, being tutored in the use of various media. It was in 2019 that he decided to return to his primary love, sculpturing in clay, this time with a deeper and personal style.
