Inspiration: Christmas 2019 Trends

With the festive season just around the corner, many may be wondering what to wear to the many social events they have lined up. Here we look at some of this season’s hottest trends to help you plan your stand-out Christmas outfit!

Glitter & Sparkle

From make-up to cocktails, glitter and sparkle are always on the agenda when it comes to Christmastime. This year, the trend is even bolder with the fashion trends that are set to be everywhere. Some of our favourite combinations are white outfits coupled with diamonds for that timeless bedazzling look, or else lots of sparkle in the form of sequins. The latter is best coupled with over-the-top accessories, including feathers or red velvet.

Mind Your Head

The 90s are back with a vengeance, particularly when it comes to headwear. Indeed, according to the runway shows of Tom Ford and Anna Sui, amongst others, we can expect hats to be floppier, more oversized and even more daring than they have been in years. Our favourite is the Valentino lace bucket hat, which has been sported locally by the likes of stylist Carina Camilleri.

Puff Up

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: puffed shoulders are in it to win it. On top of being a statement of power, these are also an easy way to make any outfit the talk of the party. And, believe us, if you sport anything like what’s been seen on the runway, you’ll definitely get people talking: shocking pink, floral, asymmetrical and totally oversized puffed sleeves are everything we love about fashion.

Yellow But Not Mellow

If you’re looking for an unexpected colour that will get you noticed, look no further than yolk yellow, a colour that has completely taken over runways across the globe. Whether you incorporate it into your outfit or use it from head-to-toe, you’ll be sure to be completely on point this Christmas.

Knitwear But Not As You Know It

Hey, it’s cold and we like to keep warm… But, this year, it has to be done with a twist. The deconstructed knitwear trend sees models and fashionistas tie sweaters around their necks, use scarves as belted ponchos, and a whole host of other quirky combos. Our advice is to go for what you feel comfortable in. But, if you want to make the most of the trend without going too out of your comfort zone, then why not just choose a chunky sweater in yolk yellow?
