Mo’s Art is a theatrical performance aimed at children ages 8+. Mo, a young artist is stuck and cannot think of anything to paint. He is whisked away to the world of opera, where a number of loveable and quirky characters help him explore the genre of classical music and opera through a number of different experiences. Creativity starts to flow and beautiful music comes to life.
Directed by Antonella Mifsud, and musically coached by Karmena Radovska, along with Ramona Zammit Formosa at the piano, the 9-strong cast have been working for the past four months on rehearsals for Mo’s Art, a piece devised by the director herself.
Toi Toi believes that opera is an important and relevant art form even today. It was the pop music of the past and can still be enjoyed today. People of all ages and social classes would clamour to fill the theatre in order to enjoy a night out at the opera. Many of the popular arias being sung in this entertaining production were in fact sung in the streets, and a lot of them remain popular even to this day!
Mo’s Art takes place at the Teatru Manoel Studio Theatre on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th March for schools and the 26th March for the public.
