Iconoclastic, funny, but very serious about my funny
Where was your first exhibition held?
I’ve been exhibiting my whole life through, but perhaps I could say that first major exhibition was at Christine X
How long have you been practising your art?
Since forever
Which is your favourite from among your own artworks?
I guess my favourite from my own would have to be this photograph I took of these three flies, and called it “Division of turds”. That and my poetry book of course.
Whose artist’s work are you most inspired by?
I like Diego Armando Maradona
If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?
Being an artist is not enough in Malta, so I’m also a Learning Support Assistant, and part-time night receptionist at a boutique hotel
What is the epitome of happiness for you?
Good company, a snooker table, whiskey, a juke box
What are you working on at the moment?
I’ve learnt the tough way not to reveal what I’m working on in advance.
Are you a morning person or do you come alive at night?
I’m a night owl.
How many coffees a day? Don’t embellish.
I love coffee, I don’t count how many a day, but I do know that when I wake up in the morning I fix my first one before heading to the Cafe for the second one.
Sundays can be very productive for some and very unproductive for others. How do you spend yours?
On Sundays I meet up religiously with two or three artist friends of mine to watch bad horror, or sci-fi movies, some really bad ones, it does us well.
Wine and cheese. Yes or no?
I love wine, especially white, and cheese too, I walk to the counter and ask for their stinkiest one.
If you were given a million euros, what would you indulge yourself with?
Travel, possibly to Tokyo first.
Favourite place to holiday?
I love cities! London, Paris, Rome, Prague, Berlin, I don’t like feeling cut-off, I like to be where it’s all happening.
