This year’s KMS Skolasport edition achieved a new record of participation with over 4,200 children taking up one of the many sports disciplines offered by the Kellogg’s sponsored programme. The participation figures of adults taking part also registered a marked increase with over 790 adults and parents attending sports and fitness related classes.

KMS Skolasport, a programme run by the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport, covers the development of movement and physical exercise where the main concern is that of ensuring that all children learn basic movement skills, enjoy being active, develop knowledge and understanding of their bodies. The KMS Skolasport Adult Programme is designed to encourage parents and adults to take up an activity at least once a week. The programme for both children and adults is flexible enough to embrace all abilities, from the very beginner to the most veteran and trained athlete.

KMS Skolasport offers various programme modules in different venues, including the Sports Complexes found in Cottonera, Marsa, Kirkop and Tal-Qroqq. Government colleges have also been roped in to reach a wider audience. These include Sta. Margerita Boys Secondary School in Cospicua, St. Ignatius Boys Secondary School in Tal-Handaq, St. Clare Girls Secondary School in Pembroke, Maria Regina Boys Secondary School in Mosta, Maria Assunta Girls Secondary School in Hamrun, and Sta. Tereza Girls Secondary School in Mriehel.

With the final trimester approaching, KMS Skolasport will be soon accepting applications for the remaining available courses which run from 24th April to 30th May 2014. The application fees are worked pro-rata per term. Terms and conditions may apply.
