Broadcast live from London’s Royal Opera House is La Bohème, starring the renowned Maltese Tenor Joseph Calleja as Rodolfo. Based on Giacomo Puccini’s world famous opera, the production will be showing exclusively at the Eden Cinemas on Wednesday 10th June at 20:15. First staged in 1974 and known to be one of The Royal Opera’s best loved operas; the production will be performed for the very last time this June.
John Copley’s keen stagecraft and loving attention to period and dramatic detail make this production a masterpiece of realism, while Julia Trevelyan Oman’s designs evoke the atmosphere of 19th-century Paris. Israeli conductor Dan Ettinger conducts one of Puccini’s most emotional and melodious scores, in a revival that promises to go down in Royal Opera history.
Due to popularity, La Bohème will be showing in Cinema 11, as well as Cinema 16. Enhancing this unique experience is amplified sound, together with dimmed lighting. This provides a sense of authenticity, as though watching the production live from the Royal Opera House.
