Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna wishes to invite a general public to an upcoming two-day spectacular event to be held at Fort Rinella, Kalkara on Saturday 31st May and Sun 1st June 2014 between 10 and 17.00hrs.
FWA has become famous for its special events at this site. The planned event will focus on the late Roman army and will include a number of first for Malta in the field:
• 30 full-dressed and equipped Roman legionnaires
• Roman artillery
• Roman Cavalry
• A Roman signalling display
• A roman chariot drawn by two horses
The planned two days will be jam-packed with ancient Roman military action which will include field formations and military tactics, skirmishing, training with different ancient weaponry and a full-scale attack combining the cavalry, infantry and artillery. There www.wirtartna.orgwill also be talks and hands-on sessions about the roman military, camp life, children activities and many re-enactment displays. The fort will open its gates at 10.00hrs with different events being held throughout the day. The main display will start at 14.00hrs and will last for two hours. The entrance fee for this special event will remain the same as is usually for visiting Fort Rinella at €10 per adult. Children’s (under 16) entrance will be FREE if accompanied by an adult. Transport to Fort Rinella is by bus no. 3 from Valletta stopping outside Fort Rinella.
