If you see a designer, handmade object or painting, the quality of the work is usually evident if it’s been produced by an experienced Maker/Artist. But can you determine what techniques were used, and how much time and creativity was invested in the item?
A group of five creatives have come together to participate in an innovative event entitled MADE. During the day they will be demonstrating how they produce their unique objects and paintings from their diverse mix of mediums. The five women taking part are all established in their field of expertise, each having exhibited extensively and the public being familiar with their creations, this event however gives an insight into the normally solitary studio time where ideas are made tangible. Handbag Designer Daniela Priehyba Camillleri will be assembling her handbags, Scarf Artist Rosita Gasiunaite will be painting silk scarves, Artist Xaxa Calleja will be painting on canvas, Jewellery Designer, Nadege Cassar, will be producing her contemporary jewellery and Ceramic Designer, Sue Mifsud, will be throwing functional ware on the potter’s wheel.
This is being held in a studio environment and the participants’ designer items and paintings will also be on show and for sale with their creators open to discuss the process of the development and making.
MADE is being held on Sunday 15th March between 10am and 5pm at 48 St Rose Street, Rabat. Also being mutually supported is Desirably Yours, with handmade chocolates out for sampling and wine from Ta Rosann winery being offered to guests.
