I’m a bit boring when it comes to make-up. The difference between my day and night look being a swoosh of colour on my eyelids and lipstick. But I pretty much always use MAC products. When I’m presenting or being interviewed on TV, or when I have a special function, I book a session to have my face done. They see you in a different light, are more adventurous and have a raft of products, talent and techniques at their disposal.
This time, promoting a couple of books we’ve published, I had a photo session for the print media and TV appearances booked and once again, MAC rose to the challenge. I was booked in with Kim who has looked after me before at 8am, and she worked her magic.
A good base is key and whilst I use the water weight foundation at home, doing all the proper prep really does make a difference. Prep + Prime was used to even out my skin and highlighting and using natural tones for my blusher and eyes made so much difference – no dark circles to be seen but no heavy layers either. I really must learn how to do this myself and look my absolute best every day. I shouldn’t leave this experience to just special occasions, its not expensive and can be traded for the products used.
My eyes are what stand out in pictures and the effect given was both natural but stood up to the lights and the long day. With a variety of outfits from evening to homely, the look was perfect for each of them. I had a very important dinner after the day of shooting too, so really got a return on my investment!
My lashes were coated with In Extreme Dimension 3D Lash and a gorgeous lipstick from the Liptensity range called Doe applied. These I’m going to buy in bulk. The mascara didn’t clump or shorten my lashes like some mascaras do, and when I eventually had to take it off, it was painless. The lipstick though made me feel differently about wearing it I the day. It was natural but at least you could see it, and it made me stop chewing my lips for that day at least!
Although I get photographed quite often, I’m not one to change my facebook profile pictures but I posted my favourite of the images and over 300 people liked and commented in a day. Felt like my birthday and not a typical day at the office!
