
Maria Froman was born in Sweden but she has lived in many different countries; Ethiopia, Iran, USA, Australia, England, India, China and Malta. Maria studied art in USA and later also studied economics and business administration.
How did you get started?
I won a Rotary Art award while still in High School and that was when I decided to become a painter.
What genre do you consider your work to be?
Romanticized realism.
Describe your work in less than 10 words.
Quirky, realistic, surreal with strong contrasts and light.

Australia
How long have you been practising your art?
Since 1981
Which is your favourite from among your own artworks?
All the aluminium foils I have painted.
Whose artist’s work are you most inspired by?
Rembrandt
If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?
Craftsman artisan in joinery.
What is the epitome of happiness for you?
Travelling the world and eating good food.
What are you working on at the moment?
A book.
Are you a morning person or do you come alive at night?
Decidedly not a morning person…
How many coffees a day? Don’t embellish.
Five or six.
Sundays can be very productive for some and very unproductive for others. How do you spend yours?
I am lucky enough to not have to worry about which day of the week it is.

Yes
If you were given a million euros, what would you indulge yourself with?
A camping trip from the top to the bottom of Africa.
Favourite place to holiday?
A new place every time.
