Together with the new season splendid new things have arrived at La Foresteria at Menfi, Sicily.
At lunchtime, you can now dine in the light flooded garden room, and there is now a menu including great fish dishes as well as traditional Sicilian cuisine. Thanks to Chef Angelo Pumilia, an innovatory interpreter of the island’s gastronomic culture, the new menu rethinks the most traditional Sicilian cuisine and the Planeta family’s recipes with a contemporary mosaic of flavours and freshness.
Pomodorini Kamerino, a very sweet variety of cherry tomato, salads of wild leaves, wild herbs, beans, peas, asparagus and artichokes provide colour and enhance dishes of fish, meat and pasta. A really fresh sheep ricotta, an intense Ragusano DOP cheese, accompanied by sauces of Nero d’Avola, a flavoursome Sicilian lamb, and delicate red prawns.
From this spring onwards, as well as selections from the menu, two tasting menus are possible, two alternative ways of experiencing different tasting possibilities.
The first menu is a faithful rendition of Planeta family cooking, a journey in 4 stages to immerse oneself in the ancient culture of a historic Sicilian family.
The second menu is an exploration in 8 stages of Sicilian cuisine. Inspired and created by our chef, this menu is the most creative and contemporary cooking in the area. Technique contributes to the intensification and emphasis of flavours, not distorting their natural taste. The aim is to achieve dishes that are above all good, rich with local flavour, and also creative and innovative.
Each menu is intriguingly matched with Planeta’s wines and olive oils; not merely matching and harmonious but also adventures in contrast, flavours and intensity.
The spring – with purple artichokes, the brilliant green fields, the blue of the sea, but above all with the flavours of the cooking – colours Planeta’s La Foresteria. We await you in this peaceful corner and appetising spot between Selinunte and Agrigento for a relaxing and pleasurable stay.
