As usual, I planned my whole weekend around the fact that Patches was on – only being 3 times a year, it’s a treat I will not miss. I have clusters of goodies from certain crafters always manage to buy myself a treat and top up the gift cupboard and card drawer – as well as my tummy. There are more great cake bakers per capita than bad drivers in Malta, I’m sure of it.
Held at Magazino Hall on the Valetta Waterfront, the first room was full of food. Not sure this is a good idea – though I did have a juice from Angka, then some sweet and salty nuts from Tart Cases as well as having a couple of bottles of their strawberry cooler set aside to collect after my rounds, the Spicy ladies were there too – but do you see what I mean? It’s a bit overwhelming to have them all at once. If they were peppered through the other crafters, you would have chance to absorb the smells and pretend to have memory loss so you could buy even more cakes and bakes.
This event showcased a few new crafters, I purchased a funky jewellery roll from one, an encapsulated petal on a choker from another, some paper engineered cards and notebooks and I almost bought a hat. Almost because not just metaphorically, my head is big.
The Secret Rose and Babbetopolis were absent – these two young women are usually my main reason for going. But I know how to find them – so although I left with a smaller stash than usual, it means I can spread the pleasure out and visit their workshops at a later date.
