One of the ways to beat boredom in your daily routine and in the kitchen is by learning new things, with many in-person events cancelled, I turned to the platforms I would usually use when travelling, Airbnb Experiences and Obby.co.uk
I spent an evening via Zoom with a food writer in London who is originally from South Korea, a couple in Barcelona and a chap in Brazil, learning how to make kimchi.
The host sent ingredients and instructions for preparation that was required before the class and then she took us through the process and showed us how to make a pancake to go with it.
Here’s a recipe using kimchi that is quick and very tasty. I call it squimchi – humour me, its squid, kimchi and pancakes which I had made before, though using a shop-bought variety. Now I’ll do it using my jar that is fermenting wonderfully in my fridge.
I also learned from and dined with Giordano who taught me a whole new method for cooking – the recipes were easy to assemble and were packed full of flavour. Check out his Cooking in a Jar online workshop here.
But I didn’t just increase my recipe repertoire…. I also finally got to try origami which I am absolutely obsessed by now! No paper is safe. I’m filling with house with paper flowers and hope they will feature heavily in the hand made SURPRISE gift subscription boxes that are being launched in October 2020.
I had a class with my sister with obby.co.uk and two classes with Airbnb Experiences.
