What better time to Pamper yourself
If there was ever a time to look after yourself, it’s now! (How many times have you heard that phrase over the last couple of weeks?) We work hard enough in our lives to keep the everyday going so we should always make time for ourselves.
Meditations are a great way to ground yourself and focusing on your breathing can set you up for the day or relieve a stressful situation.
I’m going to list some ways to bring the beauty salon to your home!
Writing this brought back a lot of memories for me, when I was a teenager reading magazines and having sleepovers with my friends. We would do all of these things whilst reading angel cards and trying to predict our futures, lol! Ah the Nostalgia.
These are great if you have teens too!
Also good to note that most local beauty and hair salons are doing deliveries now if you need some products.
Essential oils – these potent little miracle workers have been in my life since I was a child. I suffered terribly with migraine and would often be in the hospital to try figure out why and when someone introduced lavender, it eased my pain so much that I’ve been using oils ever since. There are so many ways to get the benefits of the oils and you can find a lot of useful information on Pinterest. Please use with caution and always check if it’s safe for the intended use.
Home made body scrub – some olive oil and sugar is all you need to whip up a paste that will slough off dead skin, pop in a couple of drops of your favourite essential oil and you have a beautifully smooth and gorgeous smelling skin after!
Shaving – a lot of us wax or lazer these days but right now, we are going to need a good old blade if we want to stay groomed! If you’re like me and use way more shampoo than conditioner and always have extra, use the conditioner as your “shaving foam”
Tea bags – it’s also allergy season, my eyes are puffed and itchy and staying home doesn’t help! Don’t throw out your used tea bags and when they’ve gone cold, pop them over closed eyes and let the leaves and caffeine do the magic. Your eyes will feel refreshed and look brightened and less puffy.
Epsom salts – cheap as chips and again, with a few drops of essential oils in a warm bath, will help rid the body of toxins and leave skin super soft and you fill feel soooo relaxed… be careful if you have any health conditions though and Not recommended for pregnant woman.
Mini facial – double cleanse and with a warm damp face cloth, remove the product. Apply a mask and if you don’t have one, use what you have at home with ingredients like, egg whites, avocados, banana, honey, oats… there are so many recipes online geared towards different skin types. Get creative with what’s in your kitchen!
When you’re done, massage your face lightly, always out from the middle and tap around your skin using fingertips to encourage blood flow and oxygen.
Let your hair get oily- if you’re not going anywhere, tie your hair up, away from your face in a bun or with a hairband for shorter hair and just forget about it. Letting it get oily is nourishing for your hair and scalp, even give dry shampoo a break and let nature do it’s thing. When you do wash it, put in a treatment and your hair will be in better condition, why not even let it dry naturally if you can and plait it wet.
Take care of your hands and feet – we neglect them so much and if you’re hands haven’t been doing well with all the washing and sanatising, make sure to have a hand cream or any moisturiser at your sink. I lined my sink up with hand wash, sanatiser and cream so I have no excuse to forget any. Make sure you put a good amount on before bed to really give it time to soak in. Same goes for feet, give them a good soak in a basin with the rosin salt method and massage them in circular motions, making sure you get all your toes too!
I hope these few suggestions may help some of you and encourage you to use your time taking care of yourself instead of just spring cleaning!
Stay safe,
Kim
