Far from mid-August ice-buckets! During Express Trailers summer BBQ organised this week on a hot summer evening, temperatures went slightly lower, albeit in the collective imagination of all those present, as three members of the Everest Challenge 14 team presented an enlarged photo taken on Mount Everest showing Express Trailers’ flag and model truck on the snowy slopes of the Everest.
The photo, showing Gregory Attard holding an orange model truck and Raphael Fenech Adami holding the Express Trailers flag was presented to Franco Azzopardi, Chairman and CEO of Express Trailers in the presence of all employees and management of the company.
“Team spirit and sheer determination to make it happen were the main factors that helped us achieve our target in reaching the summit of Mount Everest earlier this year,” said Gregory Attard, the team leader as he addressed all those present.
“This is the same team spirit that all employees at Express Trailers need to keep showing for the company to remain the leading transport and logistics company that it is,” added Gregory Attard.
“We are proud to see that Express Trailers ‘made it’ even to Mount Everest but more importantly, that we had the opportunity to support this fine team of Maltese climbers who made Malta proud,” said Franco Azzopardi.
“Our interest in this challenge stemmed from the fact that our business too involves reaching destinations, no matter the odds and challenges we encounter. This team’s quest to reach its destination at the summit of Mount Everest was a test of physical and mental fortitude and involved tight logistical preparation, a reflection of our daily operations here at Express Trailers,” added Franco Azzopardi.
The Everest Team which also included Douglas Barbaro Sant, became the first Maltese team of climbers to conquer Mt Everest, the world’s highest mountain when it reached the summit on the 17th of May of this year.
