This week I attended a sushi making workshop at TemptAsian at The Palace Hotel. The event was organised by a brave soul on facebook – and eventually, the numbers added up and a class was formed. For just 25 euro, we had JC, a veteran chef, show us the various forms of sushi, maki, Californian, battleship and cone, deftly lining and wrapping, rolling and forming these gems.
He gave us invaluable tips on how to cook the rice, where to buy ingredients (The Asian Shop in Gzira) and then guided us through making our own.The trick is not to overfill (of course some people did) and use a dot of rice as ‘glue’.
The workshop lasted around 2 hours and then we were treated to a feast of professionally made sushi in addition to those we had made ourselves.
