I have a friend staying this week, who visits annually, so we always try to find different things to do.
Last evening, we booked ourselves on a Laughter Yoga session, which was being held at Michelle’s fitness studio in Mosta. We didn’t know if we would meet hippie chicks or manic depressives, but what we found were a bunch of locals and foreigners, ready to give this strange sounding exercise a go. We had seen a YouTube video but wasn’t sure we would have the same experience. The trainer took us through a number of exercises including a mental floss which should be race marked and invented as a product, a motorbike game (my favourite) where you rev up your laugh and then use it to power you around the room as well as others, like imagining your credit card statement arriving (this evoked hysterical laughter from Sally and I) and whilst we may have looked like a bunch of mad women waving our hands and laughing out loud – her motto being ‘fake it till you make it’- it was fun.
A couple of women were actually sweating they had laughed so much and one claimed to have wet herself….. Anyway, by the end of the half hour, you were smiling at each other and feeling lighter, and then a short relax period before setting off for the rest of the evening.
I woke up with a seriously sore throat and not sure if I should put t down to AC season, hay fever, stress or the forced laughter. Whatever, the memory gives me a vision to get me through boring presentations and gatherings and a story to tell.
Now I’m off on my laughter cycle to the doctor to take away the pain.
