What better to do on a drizzly day than plonk yourself at a lovely hotel and have afternoon tea and a girlie gossip with an old friend who needed cheering up? The Corinthia Palace in Attard is almost on my doorstep, parking is easy and having had a carpet picnic at home the day before, my kitchen was not in a fit state for me to have guests over, and we felt we deserved the treat.
We weren’t alone, a few couples had the same idea, not all hotel guests either. We weren’t seated for long before we were offered tea, and ordered the works. One cup later, the tiered tray of delights arrived, most looking too pretty to eat.
We started with the sandwiches, smoked salmon, chicken and a cheese before ordering Champagne to accompany our sweet treats. What rebels we are…..
We negotiated over the preserves and I won strawberry; this tiny pot spent on one scone, with half the cream to top it off, indeed the was so much I gave myself a mustache, sorry, didn’t take a picture of that, but I did take this, to show you the before shot of the second tier cakes before they vanished.
En route to powder my nose, I noticed the new Charles & Ron shop, wrapped in tissue paper like a gift waiting to be opened. I thought it was rude to just walk past, so popped my head in to see the chaps working away for the imminent opening, and spotted a couple of things that would give me further reason to pop back to the Corinthia in the coming days.
Because I’m worth it!
