The modern gal’s guide to keeping active – yoga

Since my archery class resulted no casualties, my confidence levels spiked and I looked for the next adrenaline rush. I didn’t have to look far and I found SUP Yoga, a yoga class with a twist – the practice is done on a surfboard on the water. Basically you swim to your board ,climb on it and you are given a set of simple instructions on how to find your balance . It was my first time doing yoga and the first session of SUP was mainly composed of me falling in the water. I think I fell at least 7 or 8 times. On the other hand my friends seemed to be surprisingly graceful and good at it.
The class is taught by Rosita only on weekends in St. Georges Bay. For the time being, classes are no longer available, but Rosita will have a second season starting next summer. You can follow Rosita on facebook to see when they start. Details below article.
I was curious to see if I would enjoy yoga in a different environment, so I went on to try Rosita’s other classes. She teaches Vinyasa Yoga, which is a more dynamic type of yoga focused on the alignment of your movement and breath. Now, watching Rosita moving so gracefully into any position had given me the idea that yoga is particularly easy to master. While it may be enjoyable, I’m still discovering with every session muscles I didn’t even know I had.
The great part of this particular activity is that experience is not really needed. The main goal of yoga is to centre yourself, to align your inner and outer self. Also, the fact that the classes are very early in the morning I found quite helpful, as I could actually manage to get to work on time after. Besides the positive recharge you get from the sessions, your flexibility will definitely increase and so will your overall muscle tone.

Rosita’s schedule may change from time to time, so it’s best to check out her site: https://www.facebook.com/rositayogawellbeing.
