The Ordinary Skin Care
As an avid skin care enthusiast and product addict, I first heard of the ordinary skin care range towards the end of last year through some of my favorite youtube channels.
The ordinary brand is part of the deciem
group and offer a range of simple, straight to the point skin care with no frills, just the ingredients needed for your particular concern, be it anti aging, pigmentation, roseaca or acne to name but a few. Because of the basic approach to their line and packaging, it also means a VERY attractive price point.
Whilst I admit that I find it hard to resist jumping on a lot of band wagons, I am more reluctant to pick up hyped products these days, especially when coming from recommendations from big influencers that may or may not have be paid for their views, which lets be real, are not always honest unfortunately (I’ve worked in the beauty industry for the past decade so I know more than a thing or two of how these things work)
So, I waited a few months, researched a lot and finally decided to go ahead and purchase a few items from the ordinary range as they have started to stock them on Asos and if they weren’t great, it’s not breaking the bank.
BUT… they are great!
I chose the 100% cold pressed organic rose hip oil, the 2% retinoid, the natural moisturizing factor +HA and the high spreadability fluid primer. The 4 products cost me under €40
The rose hip oil is my favourite and I love applying it on my face, neck and décolletage before I go to bed knowing that my skin will look plumper and energized come Morning. The oil absorbs quickly and is non greasy. It also reduces the signs of sun damage to restore an even, radiant skin tone with regular use.
Rosehip oil is also known to reduce pigmentation and scarring over time.
The 2% retinoid claims to visibly reduce the signs of aging, brighten dark spots and hyper-pigmentation and smooth and refine the skins texture. I use it about twice a week and layer the rose hip oil on top. Expect possible flaking or slight irritation if you are a first time user of retinoids.
I really like the moisturizer for the day as it’s a simple and the hyaluronic acid in it helps to keep the skin hydrated.
The primer has a light silicone feel and feels weightless under my makeup and helps it glide on fabulously.
An important thing to note is that the formulations of a lot of their products contain concentrations of active ingredients, one example is vitamin A which increases the skins sensitivity so it is imperative that using products like these that you are using a suitable
spf during the day. If you are pregnant, retinoids or products that contain vitamin A are not recommended.
I am really impressed with the line and will definitely be trying out some more of the the products, such as the hyaluronic acid which will keep skin optimally hydrated as it attracts moisture and the caffeine concentrate to target dark circles and puffy eyes:
The more good I can do for the well being of my skin, the better and at such good value, it’s a no brainer.
Go on, Indulge yourself!
