The Euro Media Forum and Palazzo de Piro present a Thor Film Presentation and discussion at Palazzo de Piro, Mdina on Sunday October 27th at 2.30 p.m. This event coincides with the special screening of Thor: The Dark World in 3D at Eden Cinemas on Wednesday 30th October.
Thunder and lightning abound, the mighty Thor hammered his way in the Silver Age of Comic Books, in 1962 by editor-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciller Jack Kirby.
Known to historians and comic book enthusiasts as the God of Thunder, Thor’s origins are in ancient Norse legends that recount tales of an extraordinary civilisation that crossed from the mythical kingdom of Asgard to Scandinavia through stargates.
Comic book researcher David Pace and moderator Justin Camilleri will provide an insight into how influential was Norse Mythology on Stan Lee’s creation and if Lee, Lieber and Jack Kirby unwillingly invented the modern comic book hero epic. The speakers promise an interesting debate on one of Marvel Comics most popular characters and is open for anyone. The audience is invited to participate and put forward to the panel their questions, curiosities and observations. To spice up the evening there will also be a massive Thor film quiz, with the opportunity to win great prizes. So quiz participants keep your eyes open for the Thor film’s clues! Limited seating is available. Tickets are 10 euros and includes afternoon tea and a mouth-watering feast of sandwiches, cookies and cakes from Palazzo de Piro.
