The two major musicals will be produced in Malta in 2018 by renowned local theatre company FM Theatre.
Tickets for two smash-hit musicals being produced in Malta next year will go on sale soon. FM Theatre Productions will be producing both ‘My Fair Lady’ and ‘Mamma Mia’ in 2018 to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary.
“We are thrilled to be producing both of these shows in a year that is a cultural milestone for both us at FM Theatre and Malta as a whole,” says FM Theatre co-founder, Edward Mercieca.
“With Valletta taking the spotlight as the European Capital of Culture and FM Theatre celebrating our 20th anniversary both in 2018, there is no better time to bring two such internationally recognised and well-loved productions to our shores.”
Directed by Denise Mulholland, ‘My Fair Lady’ will take to the stage at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta from 2-4 February, whilst the Maltese premiere of ‘Mamma Mia’, directed by Chris Gatt, will run from 13-15 April at the same venue.
Famed for songs such as ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?’ and ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’, ‘My Fair Lady’ is the long-running musical about Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle, who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins to help her pass as a lady amongst the upper set.
The music of ABBA is brought to life meanwhile in ‘Mamma Mia!’, the smash-hit musical that has thrilled audiences of over 60 million people worldwide. The story follows Sophie, a young woman about to be married who discovers that her father could be any one of three men, and so she invites all three to her wedding without telling her mother, Donna.
Booking for both productions opens on 30th November 2017, with tickets available online at www.mcc.com.mt. Early-bird discounts are available, including 15% off group bookings made before 31st December, making them the ideal Christmas gift for all the musical fans in your family!
