Smiling with Jerome Foundation is an NGO which helps families diagnosed with cancer and families whose kids have serious disabilities or conditions.
Jerome was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma at the age of 16 years and died later, after nearly 4 years, on the 6th of October 2017. Having passed through it all, his family are now helping as many vulnerable people as possible. In December 2019, they introduced the Chemo Bags of Hope Initiative in Malta.
These are bags which are given to all inpatients (young and old) at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre and to patients referred by Hospice Malta. All items in these bags are specialised for cancer patients which include a Lap Blanket, Chemo Hat, Water, Stress Ball, Stationery, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Folder, ClipBoard, Lollipop, Art Therapy Book, Puzzle Book, Alcohol Free MouthWash, Lip Balm, Colouring Pencils, Notebook and crocheted Angels. Although each Chemo Bag of Hope is costing us around 60Euros, they are given for Free to everyone.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4th to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The Foundation is holding a WALK WITH JEROME event whereby they are inviting everyone to participate by walking with whoever you want and how long you want to commemorate this event against a small donation in aid of our Foundation.
The steps are pretty simple:

- Send your minimum donation of €2 per participating individual by Revolut or BOV Mobile Banking on 99872002
- We’ll send a unique number for every participant (by email) together with the foundation’s logo
- Go out, #WalkTheWalk and snap a photo of you alone or with your family members with your number and logo showing!
