What’s Trending – MAKEUP

Trends come and go and we tend to stick to what we love over time, when it comes to makeup. I know this because I’ve worked on thousands of clients and I myself will always  have my “go to” makeup routine.

Certain things like winged eye liner will never be off trend, yet lip colours and brows are changing at the speed of light!

As I’m out of the retail side of things in my industry, I rely on the socials, particularly Instagram to feed my need for new inspiration when it comes to trends and products.

There is so much going on at the moment, a lot of exciting new things out there that I’m just itching to be able to work normally again!

Below I’ve listed some gorgeous new trends and products I’m noticing.

The brow

Like never before, the brows are centre stage! Each decade has its signature brow look but this one is all about versatility. Full is the key of any brow look wether you love a fluffy insta brow or a more traditional sculpted brow, once they are full, they are trending!

Treatments such as brow lamination, brow tinting and hd brows can help you achieve this look instantly, lasting a few weeks, as well as better brow makeup products than ever! There is literally something for everyone and some of the best brow brands by far are BENEFIT, MAC and Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Textured makeup

Now, makeup is all about texture and finish on the skin – it’s hard to see the flat matte look anywhere these days and even if you do love a matte finish, there are so many products to liven up the base.

Cream finishes in blushes and eye shadows are having a serious come back. They are also so easy to use and get a fresh look just by using your fingers.

Iridescent Dusts are also making appearances product wise to add dimension to any look.

The lip revolution

I mean how many lip products have we seen come through in the last few years! From sheer to matte, shiny to velvet

it’s ALL about the colour pay off and again, texture.

The liquid lip has been perfected formula wise and the sheer family have been perfected, longevity wise to really get the best out of your product.

The lifted lash

I’m seeing many people come away from lash extensions and opt for lash lifts or temporary individual lashes as the maintenance is so low with the latter two.

Many brands have also re-introduced the lash primers again.

Permanent makeup

Probably the biggest trend by far! Micro blading, lips and eye liner are huge! Especially here in Malta and when you find a very good pro, the results can be absolutely amazing!

The “glow”

It’s going nowhere guys and we will constantly see new terms for getting that glow on. There are so many highlighting products on the market. You can’t go wrong with a fresh face.

You may see many artists online heavily contouring for specific looks and showcasing techniques but I think (I hope) we’ve softened the excessive contouring and brought back the softer bronzed effect. I think everyone is enhancing more than transforming if that makes sense!

As always, you don’t need to follow trends to have beautiful makeup! I am all about enhancing so don’t follow typical trends usually but I’m loving the versatility of what I’m seeing lately. Always remember, you are beautiful with or without makeup! Have fun with it… it washes off! Well not the permanent stuff but make sure you go to a pro! Also a big tip from me is to follow your unique features… by this, I mean work with what you have, not against it
