The ‘Brand New Day’ songstress has just released her first single since moving back to Malta after a three-year stint in LA.
Davinia Pace has just debuted, ‘Perfectly’. The catchy pop tune, which was written by the singer herself, marks her comeback to the Maltese scene after three years in Los Angeles, where she worked with major label songwriters, including Nick Lopez.
Davinia, who came to prominence with tunes like ‘Betrayed’ (which placed third at the 2013 Malta Eurovision Song Contest) and ‘Reckless’ (an original song which debuted at Isle of MTV 2016), is now ready to continue making waves on the local music scene.
All this follows a very successful three years in Los Angeles, USA, where she had a sold-out show at the world-famous Viper Room (which had previously hosted the likes of Oasis, Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, Sheryl Crow and Maroon 5) and opened for rapper B.o.B. alongside Nick Lopez to a crowd of 30,000.
“LA was a magical experience but I missed home,” says Davinia, who just launched the ‘Perfectly’ music video. “I felt like I needed to come back to Malta, which is a place that always inspires me.”
‘Perfectly’ is a very personal song for Davinia, and it talks about getting into a relationship when one of the parties is still carrying baggage from previous relationships. The visuals for it, directed by Steven Levi Vella, bring the LA aesthetic to life in Malta.
“The video is both mine and Steven’s vision,” Davinia continues. “One side is ready to go all in, while the other side feels like they can’t. It took a full 16 hours of shooting and countless hours of editing, but it was such a thrill!”
The ‘Perfectly’ video is now online on YouTube, while the song will soon be available on iTunes and Spotify.
